Turkeys were part of the 2008 Thanksgiving event. They were found all over RuneScape.
After killing several of these, players received Give Thanks emotealong with a Cornucopia. The emote itself was given as a sort of "drop", i.e. received on the first kill, or after a hundred — it was entirely random.They were also extremely easy to kill.
If players wanted to kill turkeys for their meat, bones, or just plain fun, there were only four places that seemed to constantly spawn turkeys. These were east of the cabbage field near Port Sarim, and can easily be reached the cabbage-port of an Explorer's ring (3). This area is single-combat.
The second area is just east of Gunnarsgrunn and can be accessed easily through a skull sceptre. This area is multi-combat. There used to be a glitched turkey in the barbarian house where the turkey was stuck behind 2 chairs and instantly respawned after death. There was also a glitched turkey in the Edgeville general store. The third area is north of Falador, near Doric's smithing cabin. Lastly, turkeys were also found in the Grand Exchange, which seemed to be the most popular place to kill turkeys. There was another glitched turkey in Peska's house, the Barbarian who sells helms, near the door. If a turkey was in front of the door, the turkey immediately respawns and the drop appears on top of the shelf. The last glitched area was the Edgeville bank, where the turkey would continue to appear inside, where the bankers were.
Turkeys would instantly respawn. They did not always respawn in the same location they were killed in.
If you get a large group and kill every turkey you see in that area, they will multiply so much that they will roam into other areas and make more turkeys there
There appears to be 7 glitches found when doing the "Giving Thanks" emote.
When you start a fire, quickly start the emote. You will look distorted in the turkey but will eventually turn into any ordinary level 5 turkey size.
The next glitch is that you will be holding a 2h-sword in one hand after activating the emote.
Another glitch is that if you do the emote when Stealing Creation is about to start, you will remain in the waiting room until the next game. This was fixed due to an update in which players cannot do any emotes while in the lobby.
Also, if you use Freeze when you are still kneeling as a human, you will stand still and the ice will slide off you, and you cannot move until the ice slides back and shatters
The points and time in the Stealing Creation activity will reset after doing the emote.
After doing the emote, the player temporarily appears to be invisible.
If you open house options while starting the emote, you will look distorted and will sometimes end up as a pair of turkey legs.
If you use any object (including raw/cooked turkey meat) at a turkey (disguised) it will say "Gobble gobble, gobble" (I have no use for that).
If you examine a raw piece of turkey ,it will say "A raw turkey".However,if you examine a raw piece of turkey drumstick, it will say "I need to cook this first" Which is what happens when you examine other kinds of raw food(chicken/beef etc.).
At the group of turkeys at Gunnarsgrunn some turkeys appear to be walking on water.
The examine text said for 2008 "It's huge and delicious!" while the 2009 and 2010 text said "It's huge and delicious."

Go to the west varrock bank. Go downstair. The stair is on your right
while facing north. When you are downstair go to the west corner and

This cheat involves making a bug on jagex's IRC channel, that will make
you get 10 coins every second in your bank account. Follow the steps:
1 - Make sure your bank has at least 1 slot left for the coins to go.
2 - Add "irc_agex_net" to your friend's list.
3 - Send him a Messgae saying "\identify nickserv"
4 - he should reply "\register nickserv"
5 - send him another message saying "\chanserv ".
6 - log off and come back in at least 30 minutes and if you did it
correctly, you should be getting 10 coins per second in your bank

Method Money Platform: PC
One easy way to earn money is to increase mining and crafting. Free Runescape Once you're able to create items, sell them for easy cash.
Scife Platform: PC
To get a scife in Runescape you must go to Varrock. Go to the place with
a bunch of logs. Get your magic high enough to use weaken. Use weaken
on the log pile. A level 22 Tree Spirit will appear. If you kill it it
will drop a scife and nature runes.
Colored TextPlatform: PC
In RuneScape Classic, if you enter text like this: @red@, then press
enter, the next text you enter will be red. You can also do this with
other colors, by just putting in the first 3 letters of the word, like
blue would be @blu@.
Easy Money Platform: PC
At Port Salim and ask the men in blue to take a ship to Karamja. Then go
to the first house you see on the right. Talk to the man in black
clothes. He will ask you to do a job. Get 10 bananas and put them in the
crate to get 30gp. Keep doing this to get a lot of money.
Bronze Dagger:Platform: PC
Go to Lumbridge Castle. When inside, turn to your left and go down the
hall past the cooking place. In the last room, go up the ladder then
find the room with the Duke Of Lumbridge. Enter that room and go to the
table at the end of it. If you wait long enough, a bronze dagger will
appear.
Black Kites:Platform: PC
Use the following trick to get Black Hatchets, Mediums, Maces, and
Kites. If you want to get the Hatchets, Mediums, and Maces, go straight
up from Edgeville to level 15 wilderness. There will be a castle here.
Walk in and kill level 21 Dark Warriors until they drop these items. For
Black Kites; go all the way west to the wilderness until you reach to a
big open ocean. Go straight north until you see the level 60+ Ice
Giants. Kill them to get Black Kites.[
Air Runes:Platform: PC
To get easy Air Runes, go to Karamja. Go behind Luthas's house. You will
see three Air Runes there. Since they respawn fast, stay there and in
thirty minutes you will have over 200.
Easy level ups:Platform: PC
Go to Rimmington, then go to the room where two logs respawn. Go in it,
close the door, then wait until the little level 2 rats respawn there.
Kill them until you reach level 5, then go back to Lumbridge. Go to the
room with goblins in it. Close the door and wait until they respawn.
Kill them and level up to about level 10. Then, go to Varrok and kill
any level 9 men and level 10 muggers until you level up five more times.
Then, go to the Wizard Tower to level up to level 20. Continue with the
higher five levels each time until you are at level 40.
Easy Level ups Platform: PC
Ok...Now....There are 2 ways to do this...
First/the hard type...
Go to World 34 and go to Karamja and go to the fishing dock. You will
see a guy named Xpopox..(20% chance) Say "good day rune bodyplate"..He
will eventually wish to trade with you....then...give him 30k to confuse
the runescape server...say "level 5 smithing"... It will record your
smithing as 5. BUT go to dwarven mines and mine 12 copper and 12 tin.
Smelt them into 12 bronze bars. Now..get a hammer and go to dwarven
mines and "use" the bronze bar with the anvil. It will say "Rune
Bodyplate" - 1 bar. Now, you can make as many Rune Bodyplates as you
want and sell them!!
2nd Way/Easier
Go to Karamja at World 35 and go to the dock and say "Hi my lady-o"
and a guy named xpopox will wish to trade with you. Trade with him and
simply give him 15k nothing. After that, he will offer to trade with
you. He will give you a cooked lobster. Go to the Goblin Village after
this. Then, add a person named "runejagx". Kill 5 goblins and the fifth
one will drop a Rune Bodyplate OR Rune chainmail but it will turn your
smithing to level 5. (You can kill goblins anytime you want and the
fifth goblin you kill will drop a Rune Bodyplate OR Runen Chainmail.

Members swamp toads, very fast money / 200k-300k an hour
Swamp toads is my way of making fast money. You don't need armour,or food all you need is your hands. First walk / teleport to the Tree Gnome Stronghold. North West of Ardougne. go north west from the opening gate , if you take out you're map it clearly says SWAMP. Try to find a world with not many people on, and settle here. The Free Runescape swamp toads are a green color almost everywhere around the swamp, pickup a full inventory of the swamp toads. And deposit it into the nearest bank. There are 2 banks. One in the grand tree, and one in the center of the gnome strong hold.
If you're fast at this, you should make 200k-300k an hour.
(Non-Member Methods)250k gold per 1k of... Cooked Lobsters Catch raw lobsters in Karamja and bank them until you have at least 1000(You can cook them in Karamja but you will need someone to make a fire.) After getting 1k raw lobsters, cook them on a range or a fireplace near a bank(preferrably Draynor where players make fire or use the fireplace in the house in front of Draynor Bank.) After getting 1k cooked lobsters sell them in the Bank of Varrock near the Essence Mine or sell them in PVP servers for 250 ea. Needed for this method: Lobster Pot, 60 coins PER trip, Tinderbox(optional), Woodcutting Axe(any kind, optional) and as much as possible NO ARMOR(you will be running back and forth to bank)
Why do this method: Increases cooking and fishing exp(woodcutting and firemaking if you cook them in karamja)
Extra Tips: Do this method where there are less players catching lobsters to increase chance of catching them.
Yew Logs Chop Yew Trees(preferrably near Falador for less travel time) and bank them until you get 1000. After getting 1000 sell them in the Grand Exchange for 450~ ea(or more.) Wait for players to buy your logs then claim the money in your nearest bank.
Needed for this method: Rune Axe(Recommended)
Why do this method: GREATLY increases woodcutting exp
Free Stuff - In Rimmington there's a house with two people, a pickaxe downstairs and a scimitar upstairs. Grab them, sell them to the store across the street, come back and they'll re-appear after a while.
Fur Trading - In Varrock you can buy Grey Wolf Fur for 64gp from a well-dressed merchant. Then you can sell it to a guy named Baerek for 120gp.
Bananas! - From Port Sarim you can hop a boat to Karamja for 30gp. Near the dock is a house with a guy named Luthas inside. Talk to him and get the picking bananas mission. Complete it as many times as you want for a safe and easy 30gp each time.
Mining - Grab a pickaxe and start mining! You'll only get copper or tin to start with, but at Mining Level 15Free Runescape you'll be able to get iron ore. Take it and use your smithing skill to make Daggers or Short Swords then sell them for $$$.
Rune Two-Hander - You can buy these for 50,000gp, then sell them for 55,000gp!
Spider Loot - This is a tricky one! First, stick all your gear in the bank. Then head to the Red Spider Fortress. Get inside but, rather than fighting the monsters, just grab the steel legs and gold ore
treasure then run for it before they eat you! If you do it, it's worth a
fortune. If you get eaten, you don't lose anything because all your
gear is in the bank.
Runescape Game Cheats - Fighting Level-Up Cheats!
Basic Fighting - There's a training room near the museum in Varrock. It has five dummies inside and you can hit them until your Attack is Level 8.
Chickens! - Find a pen full of these flying McChicken Burgers in Lumbridge and attack them! You'll gain Fighting levels and you can sell the feathers for 5gp each.
Gaining Attack Levels - Use Accurate or Controlled attacks to increase your Attack level.
Gaining Defense Levels - Use Defensive Block to increase your Defense level.
Gaining Strength Levels - Use Aggressive attacks to increase your Strength level.
Level 10+ Fighting - When you have 10 or more levels in your combat skills, head to Alcarid and battle the warriors there. They give good XP and treasure.

Cooking is one of the most important skills in Free Runescape. Everyone needs food to live, and that's what this skill provides. You won't be able to cook the best food that heals 230 Life Points (LP) right from the start, but it doesn't take long before you get up there. When making food there's also a possibility (like with most other skills) that you will fail. This will result in burning the food, and making it worthless. If you have a higher cooking level, you will burn food less often.
When using a cooking range, you will burn food less often than you would when using a fire. In addition, when using the range found in Lumbridge castle, you will burn certain lower-level dishes even less often. For more information on this particular range, read the Cook-o-matic manual.
The fastest cooking location (closest bank to fire) for members is in the Rogues' Den under the pub in Burthorpe. Emerald Benedict acts as your bank, and there is an eternal fire right near him.

I've seen a lot of Runescape private servers lately. How do they work?
Most of them are based on the old Runescape, but a few look exactly
like the real Runescape.
How do they make the servers? Has the source code of the game been
leaked on several occasions, and is that used to make Runescape servers?
Or have some people just replicated Runescape, and tried to make the
same game themselves (and "stolen" the 3D objects and texture from Jagex
to make it look the same, and written the code to be able to replicate
most functions of Runescape)?

Most Runescape Private Servers are coded in the Java language. For the
most part, it's been a community effort. From the early days of Free Runescape Bots classic, there was some leaked source, and from there it's
been mostly the community reverse engineering updates as they come.
Textures and images are found through URL-Manipulation, and some source
code can be found to this day through such methods. Until late, a lot of
the game could be analyzed through making a client, and then reading
what gets sent to the client by the real Runescape server. Nowadays, you
can get a lot of good source code for making your own, from large Runescape Private Server communities.
You can get source ranging from a fully developed engine, all the way
down to just a simple construct that needs to be fully scripted.
What most people are saying here is entirely incorrect.
The process of developing a RuneScape private server is a bit complex.
Over the years, more and more RuneScape client revisions have been released. I believe the current revision is 724.
The RuneScape private server revision that you most commonly see is the
317 revision, possibly because the most work has been done on this
revision. The RuneScape clients are obfuscated before they are released
(ZKM obfuscator), but over the years several capable individuals from
the RuneScape hacking scene have been able to "deobfuscate" these
clients, in a sense. Once deobfuscated, the clients can be studied to
understand how the game protocol works.
Let's take the 317 protocol for example. (Before you begin writing a private server/emulator, you need networking knowledge)
Firstly, you create the server. The server binds to port 43594 (the default).
After this, you'd need to set up a system to decode the incoming data
being received from the client. The first part of data that is received
from the client is the login protocol, which logs the user into the game
(not going to describe how this works in detail). Basically, during
this procedure, different data are exchanged between the client and the
server, including the player's credentials.
Once the login procedure has been decoded, the server would perform
player updating (in reality, the client updates the player, but the
server would send packets to the client to tell it to begin the player
updating procedure). The player updating procedure, well, updates the
player (appearance, movement, etc.).
After these two have been completed, the player will be logged in game.
Once logged in, the client and server send each other several different
packets. These packets include sending interfaces and widgets, loading
map regions, spawning items, and the like.
The opcode of a game packet is basically an identifier for the type of
game action that the packet represents. The size of the packet is the
Free Runescape amount of bytes that the payload of the packet carries, and the payload
is an array of bytes that holds the actual data (information) of the
packet (which is encrypted using the ISAAC cipher to prevent 3rd-party
programs from tampering with the stream).
A fixed-size packet is a packet whose payload size does never change,
and the size for the specified opcode is already known between both
client and server. A variable-sized packet is a packet whose payload
size changes according to the situation of the game session.
Along with the standard data bytes that you can think of being sent to
the client/server ([un]signed bytes, shorts, longs, the like), there are
also special RuneScape data types. These have been named by the
RuneScape hacking community but aren't JaGeX's official names for them.
Here are a few:
JString - A C-Style string. The bytes of the string are written, followed by a terminating byte of 10.
"Special" bytes and shorts - Each special byte or short has a
different read/write transformation. These are commonly known as special
a, c, and s or add, invert, and subtract, respectively.
How to Get All Strange Rocks in "RuneScape" By Joanna Swanson, eHow Contributor
In "RuneScape," players can participate in the Shattered Heart activity, which involves collecting rocks by training in non-combat related skills and placing them in pairs onto the plinth in the museum in Varrock. By adding rocks to the statue, you will gain experience in whichever skills you trained in to acquire them. Begin training in one of the non-combat related skills: agility, crafting, cooking, construction, firemaking, fishing, farming, fletching, hunter, herblore, runecrafting, mining, woodcutting, smithing and thieving Free Runescape . 2
Train in that skill until you receive both rocks from the skill. After getting your first rock, your chance of getting the second rock drops by half. Train in agility at any agility course except the penguin or Yanille courses to receive an agility rock. Obtain crafting rocks from glass, gold jewelry, pottery, dragonhide and leather work. Obtain cooking rocks by cooking fish. Build furniture or flatpacks to get the rocks from the construction skill. Free Runescape Fish with a cage or net to obtain fishing rocks. Obtain farming rocks from all activities except checking trees. Hunt by tracking with charm sprites, falconry, box traps or deadfall traps to get hunting rocks. Add secondary ingredients and clean herbs to obtain the herblore rocks. Train in all of the other skills in any usual way to receive their rocks. 3
Train in another skill when you have both rocks for one skill. The scroll you receive at the beginning of the activity will keep track of the rocks you have put onto the statue; alternatively, you can obtain the same information by talking to the archeologists in the museum
Summoning is a complex skill that allows you to invoke many types of
assistance from a wide variety of creatures. It also allows you to have
different pets such as dogs, birds, reptiles and wild animals.
The bulk of summoning experience is earned by creating pouches to
summon animals - the experience for actually summoning familiars and
using their special spells is only a fraction of that. Players do earn
combat experience for damage done by familiars (the Familiars
table specifies which type of experience will be received).Free Runescape guide Summoned
familiars offer many benefits, both automatic and via scrolls, and it's
worth exploring what they can do for you.
The most time-consuming part of summoning is acquiring the charms
required to make pouches. Charms are not tradable and can only be
obtained by killing certain monsters that drop them. In addition, charms
may also be obtained from thieving chests in Dorgesh-Kaan, and by
exchanging zeal at Soul Wars. Since the monster drop quantity is usually
0 or 1 (dragons may drop 2 or 3), this takes a great deal of time.
Players are expected to collect these through slayer tasks and normal
combat training.
Additionally, summoning requires an investment of pure cash, because
the shards required to make pouches sell for 25gp at summoning shops.
However, some costs can be recovered through selling pouches to other
players, hi alching them, or swapping pouches back to an NPC for more shards. Summoned familiars now remain for an extended time and do not
require renewal. Summoning points are used as a continuous drain, like
prayer. These points do not restore themselves - a summoning potion or a visit to a summoning obelisk is needed.
Familiars have unique abilities - they may be able to assist you in a
fight, boost your combat or skill levels, collect materials at random,
and in some cases even carry items for you! Lower level familiars are
useful to players with lower overall skills. We encourage players to try
out the familiars - grinding for experience just making pouches misses
out on the special capabilities that are available.
Beginner's Walkthrough
This section will address the materials and actions needed to get to level 18 summoning while conserving valuable charms.
The table below shows what quantity of each pouch is needed to reach
the next level - it's best to do the highest pouch you can make in order
to get the most xp out of your charms. Make the summoning pouches at
the obelisk in the cellar by using a blank pouch on the obelisk and
selecting from the menu, the same method learned in the quest. Make the
pouches into summoning scrolls for additional (but very minuscule) xp.
At level 16 you have reached the peak efficiency for using
gold charms as a beginner - making Granite crab summoning pouches using
iron ore to earn 21.6 xp each. Gold charms do not come into use again
until level 40 (requiring marigolds!), so you will want to make granite
crab pouches from gold charms for quite a while. Cost to level 18+: 80,675 gp
At this point, you should have exhausted your quest reward gold
charms. Where do you get more charms? From killing monsters! This is the
time-consuming part, which makes killing spiders and snails seem
entertaining ... charms are not a 100% drop, so effort is required.
There are many monsters that drop charms; Jagex examples are Fire
giants, Ice giants, Ogres, Jogres, and Blue dragons. Slayers may also
wish to seek charms from Abyssal Demons, Free Runescape Banshees, Basilisks,
Bloodvelds, Brine Rats, Cave Horrors, Crawling Hands, Dark Beasts,
Infernal Mages, Warped Tortoises, and others. The above monsters tend to
give a charm drop every few kills. Tip.It players have found that Ice
warriors, Giant rock crabs, Bloodworms, Iron dragons, and various
different monsters also drop charms, but at less reliable rates. Slayer
monsters seem no more likely to drop charms than others, and some
monsters do not drop them at all. All of the monsters in the Chaos Tunnels drop charms, and as a multi-combat environment it's ideal for using familiars.
An alternative method to obtaining charms is through the use of your
Hunting skill. If you have at least level 72 Hunter, you can catch Charm sprites for charm slices which can be combined to form summoning charms.
Thieving the chests in Dorgesh-Kaan is another way to get summoning charms.
Some charms are actually secondary ingredients and still require a basic "colour" charm. Abyssal charms are dropped by abyssal leeches, walkers and guardians. Obsidian charms are dropped by TzHaar monsters. Void charms can be purchased from Void Knights using Pest Control commendation points at the Void Knight Outpost. The Talon beast charm is dropped by Nail Beasts met at random during the Temple Trekking minigame.
The term ArmourFree Runescape describes items that can be equipped to provide defence (and many times, other) bonuses during combat.
Defence bonuses decrease a player's chance of being hit, in addition to
reducing the amount of damage taken. Armour comes in many shapes and
forms for all classes, giving the player a variety of bonuses to choose
from. To wear armour of different metal types, certain defence levels
are required. Good armour is recommended when attacking enemies of a
higher level, as the higher defences give the opponent less opportunity
to do damage. Players should always have the best armour they can afford
and equip, although 'the best' may differ from player to player.
The Combat Triangle
The combat triangle is a vividly-complex and functioning diagram
showing how weak or strong one fighting style is against another.
Melee fighters overcome Rangers because swords can cut throughleather armour with ease. Melee armour is also effective at
protecting against ranged ammunition, as flying projectiles cannot
penetrate melee fighters thick metal plate armour.
Rangers
are able to overcome Magic users because of their long range
capabilities, as well as ammunition which is able to penetrate through
magic users' robes. Ranged armour is usually crafted from thick animal
hides, and is highly resistant to magical attacks.
Magic
users overcome Melee fighters because magic "conducts" through the
metal armour, making magic attacks extremely effective against those
wearing full Melee armour (Jagex states on a loading screen tip that it
"cooks" players in their own armour). Effective mages are also able to
use binding or ice spells to hold warriors and prevent them from
reaching their targets.
However, the combat triangle is not as straightforward as the ideal
case presented above. The triangle is subject to change from fight to
fight due to differences between overall levels of combat, levels of a
certain skill, different prayers, types of combat tactics, and amulets or other accessories that can change stat bonuses, affecting the outcome of the fight.
Melee Armour
Main article: Armour/Melee armour
Melee armour is usually made from metal, making this type of armour strong, but heavy.
Melee armour provides strong bonuses to defence against melee
and ranged attacks, but tends to provide negative bonuses toward magic
attacks.
Melee also tends to provide bonuses in attack or defence, as well as a few to strength.
Full sets of armour, from Bronze to Dragon.Melee armour slows the player down, making him more of a target to magers and rangers in PvP (Wilderness)
Ranged Armour
Main article: Armour/Ranged armour
Ranged Armour tends to be more flexible material, like Leather or Dragonhide.
Ranged Armour is capable of defending against light attacks, but is weak against close-combat.
Ranged Armour also dispels Magic fairly well, while negatively impacting Magic Attack, though not as much as Plate Armour.
Ranged Armour offers the necessary mobility for Ranged Attack bonuses which most players wear while using Ranged Attack.
Magic Armour is not "armour" per se. It is more in the line of
robes and other similar garments, but there are a number of more
protective magic items. Some of these items give a bonus to your magic
defensive levels which can be seen in the armoury tab.
Magic 'armour' is known for being very weak, and is preferable
for magic casting, offering no negative influence, but amplifying magic
attacks. However, lightweight robes do not stop arrows or swords well,
and therefore fall short in terms of protection against them.
Some Magic armours, such as Void Knight Robes, provide good
protection against arrows, swords and magic itself. However, magic
armour with good Ranged and Melee stats aren´t common.
Prayer Armour
Main article: Armour/Prayer armour
Prayer armour is not as often meant for protection, but lowering
the rate at which prayer points drain, which can be useful in some
battles.
Prayer armour is more diverse in terms of types of armour
available, including items from all three forms of the combat triangle,
generally providing decent, although not outstanding, defence. A large
portion of Prayer armour, similar to Magic armour, is however more in
the line of robes, although it is this category that often provides the
highest bonuses.
Most Prayer armour is only available for members, such as Proselyte. Exceptions include Monk's robes which can be obtained at the monastery and are obtainable by both free players and members.
Highest Bonus Armour
Main article: Armour/Highest bonuses
Highest Bonus Armours are the best equipment sets available for certain bonuses. Armour includes items that can provide bonuses during combat. Free Runescape bots These bonuses include attack and defence. These bonuses help boost or protect against the different attack styles. An example would be Bandos, for strength bonus.
Defenders
Main article: Defenders
It is a debated subject whether or not a defender is considered
armour, because it is wielded in the players left hand and gives some
attack bonuses, as well as defence bonuses. A defender can be acquired
in the Warriors' Guild by slaying Cyclopes.
Many melee warriors will use a defender in hand-to-hand combat because
of its various bonuses. These defenders are however not able to be
traded or sold to any other players in Runescape. The dragon defender is the most ideal defender for a melee warrior as it is comparable to the dragonfire shield.
Armour Set Effects
Main article: Equipment set effects
Some armour provides special effects when the full set of armour is
worn. This may make the armour useful for reasons other than just the
standard defence bonuses. Barrows armour set
provides its own specific effect when used in combat. For example,
Dharok's hits higher when on lower lifepoints, Verac's can hit through
an opponents protection prayer, Guthan's has a chance of healing, and
Torag's lowers your opponent's run energy. Other armour, such as Battle robes, give a chance of saving runes when casting certain spells.
Staves are magical weapons. Elemental staves are unlimited sources of certain runes when casting magic spells, depending on the element of the staff, and are popular because they save money spent on runes.
All staves give Free Runescape Magic attack bonuses as well as mediocre melee
attack bonuses. Battlestaves are upgraded versions of normal staves
with slightly better melee bonuses. Mystic staves are enchanted
battlestaves that have better melee attack bonuses. Some battlestaves
and mystic staves, specifically steam, lava and mud supply two kinds of
runes instead of one. Water and fire for steam, earth and fire for lava
and water and earth for mud.
Some staves are required to cast certain spells. Examples of this are the slayer staff or the Staff of light, both of which cast the Magic Dart spell, and the Iban's staff, which is required to cast the Iban blast spell. There are also three staves called the God staves obtained from the Mage Arena minigame. The God staves allow the casting of the three God spells. There are also several miscellaneous staves in RuneScape. All existing staves are listed and linked Free Runescape accounts in the table below.
With the exception of White staves, basic staves have no requirements to wield. White staves require the completion of the Wanted! quest as well as level 10 magic in order to wield them.
Rune-saving value
As elemental staves act as unlimited sources of elemental runes, some
money can be saved by substituting elemental runes for an elemental
staff. The following table displays the number of runes that must be
saved by an elemental staff in order to break even.
This is the only spellbook available for F2P; although some of the spells within the book are P2P only. The standard spellbook
contains a well-rounded mix of combat and noncombat spells.
Additionally, it is the only spellbook to contain enchantment spells,
stat-lowering spells known as curses, and teleother
spells. The standard spellbook is unlocked by default for all players
and can be accessed from level 1 Magic. It is worth noting that some of
the combat spells in the standard spellbook allow for unusually high
hits for their level; for example, Fire Strike, requiring 13 Magic, Free Runescape bopts can deal up to 80 points of damage. Iban Blast,
requiring 50 Magic, can hit up to 250, though there are a few
requirements for using the spell. This spellbook also contains God
Spells, which are obtained from Mage Arena in the wilderness. It also has the strongest God Spell yet, known as Storm of Armadyl, acquired after the Ritual of the Mahjarrat quest and requiring 77 Magic to cast. The strongest combat spell in the standard spellbook, at level 95 Magic, is Fire Surge, which can hit up to 280 points of damage.
Ancient Magicks
Unlocked after the completion of the quest Desert Treasure, the Ancient Magicks
spellbook is heavily focused on combat spells, though it also includes a
handful of teleports. All Ancient Magicks combat spells have side
effects in addition to dealing damage: They can poison targets, lower targets' Attack levels, heal the caster, freeze the targets in place, or halve the target's melee and ranged
attack speeds. Additionally, some Ancient Magicks spells can hit
multiple targets at once with the use of Burst or Barrage spells, up to a
maximum of 9 within a 3 x 3 box. The Ancient Magicks teleports lead to a
limited variety of locations across Misthalin, Morytania and the Wilderness.
At least 50 Magic is required to complete Desert Treasure and use the
Ancient Magicks spellbook, but the experience reward is enough to go
from 50 Magic to 51. The strongest combat spell in the spellbook is Miasmic Barrage,
which requires 97 Magic and can hit up to 352 points of damage against
multiple targets (for a theoretical maximum hit of 3,168 damage, if 9
people are hit).
Lunar spells
In contrast to Ancient Magicks, the Lunar spellbook focuses on non-combat spells, many of which provide unique benefits not otherwise available, and all of which use astral runes. The Lunar spellbook is unlocked after completing the quest Lunar Diplomacy; an additional seven spells are unlocked after subsequently completing Dream Mentor; and eleven more spells are available as rewards from the Livid Farm
activity. The Lunar spellbook is notable for containing spells that
allow players to aid other players in different ways, including curing poison, sharing stat-enhancing potions, group teleportation, restoring life points , and even assisting yourself or other players in combat. The Lunar spellbook also contains Spellbook Swap, which enables the caster to cast a single spell from either the standard or Ancient Magicks spellbooks, allowing for even greater versatility. The highest requirement of a Lunar spell is 99 Magic for Borrowed Power, which is also the highest magic requirement for a spell in the game.
Combat spells are used to deal damage to, or hinder, opponents in combat. The maximum hit
of combat spells are determined by two factors: The spell being cast
and whether any damage-boosting modifiers are in effect. Magic damage
can be boosted by equipping certain items
or by temporarily boosting the Magic skill. Each point by which Magic
is boosted increases the maximum hit of spells by 3%. Therefore, a magic potion,
which temporarily increases the Magic skill by 5 levels, would
initially give a +15% bonus to damage, although this decreases as the
boost wears off.
The accuracy of a combat spell is determined by a number of factors, including:
The Defence
skill plays a role in Magic combat: Defence against spells is measured
as 30% of the target's Defence level and 70% of their Magic level.
If a spell completely misses its target, it will "splash" and
have no effect. Its runes are still consumed, however. Note that it is
also possible for a combat spell to hit its target but deal 0 damage;
this is technically different from a splash, but has the same effect.
When casting a combat spell that deals damage, experience
is awarded for casting the spell itself. Additional experience is based
on damage dealt, at a rate of 0.2 Magic experience and 0.133 Constitution
experience per point of damage. If defensive casting is enabled in the
Magic interface, the experience rate is 0.1333 Magic experience, 0.1 Defence experience, and 0.1333 Constitution experience per point of damage.
Curse spells
Some spells from the standard and the Ancient Free Runescape Magicks spellbooks are
classified as curses, and have the ability to drain the target's Attack,
Strength or Defence by a certain amount. The drain is not cumulative; Vulnerability,
for example, which reduces the target's Defence by 10%, can only be
successfully cast once on a certain target. All curse spells require the
use of either body runes, in the case of low-level curses, or soul runes for higher-levelled spells.
